Former World Heavyweight Champ Visits Schools!

In recogition of Black History month, Portsmouth City students had the privilege of seeing a former Heavyweight Champion of the World in person. James "Bonecrusher" Smith, winner of the 1986 title, spoke to students on the importance of staying in school and fielded questions about his boxing career.

PJHS Spelling Bee Finalists

PJHS will be sending two 7th grade students to the Scioto County Spelling Bee at the Friends' Center on February 21, 2010 at 2:00 pm. W. Call, winner of the spelling bee, and B. Davis, runner-up. Good L-U-C-K!

In honor of Black History Month, this month's INFOhio spotlight is on NewsBank. NewsBank contains full-text newspaper articles from five Ohio newspapers and national U.S. newspapers--all in one easy-to-search database. Each paper provides unique coverage of local and regional news, including companies, politics, sports, industries, cultural activities, and people in the community. This month, NewsBank is focusing on several important topics: Haiti, Black History, and the Olympics.
